Week 9 of 12 Half Marathon Training

This week I didn’t do so great, but I didn’t totally suck either. I ended up running 3 days just not the total mileage I was aiming for, ended up with 12km, with 16km scheduled for tomorrow. I tried a cross fitness training class on Tuesday – it was a HIIT workout and it totally worked muscles I never realized I had. I am hoping to add this at least once a week going forward. I didn’t get round to RPM or Bodypump this week but that’s not really a biggie for me, what bums me out is my lack of improvement on my running.

Lately I have not really been enjoying my training to be honest with you. I kinda feel like I am over it really, I cant really be over it because I am committed to running the 21km but I dunno how much running I am going to be doing, lately its been a lot of walk/running. Truthfully it feels like this is the most I have walked my entire running career (ok so career is a big word for one year but you get my point).


I really feel I am capable of more. So I am trying to keep myself motivated, keep my eye on my first half marathon prize.

This week I will be doing the following work outs:

Monday: 5km run; Bodypump
Tuesday: Rest Day
Wednesday: Cross Fitness Class; 12km Run
Thursday: Rest Day
Friday: 3km run
Saturday: Rest Day
Sunday: 16km Run

Rest Day – It’s part of the program!

Today I am taking it easy, well I’m gonna try! I still have abs challenge and my push ups to do, but I am resting my legs before my run this Saturday. Eek, my first 10km race since 14 Feb! Nervous and excited. So no run for me today, or tomorrow for that matter.

What’s for dinner?

So I committed to 3 days a week – no carbs for dinner for the month of June. I am hoping this eases me into this mindset to take on even after June – no carbs for dinner.

On Monday I made a chicken stirfry – so yum! It is one of our favourites! I make it with a lot of veg, and no starch (rice or noodles). With all the broccoli, cauliflower, peppers, mange tout, it fills you up super quick!

Last night we had some carbs – we made taco’s. A tasty, saucy mince; lettuce; tomatoes; sprinkled with a bit of cheese. So tasty. Are you like me, food makes me drool? Just typing this post is making me hungry! FEED ME! 🙂

So on to tonight I am going to try something I haven’t made before! A friend made it for me once, and it was so yum, so I am going to try replicate it! What is for dinner this eve? LETTUCE WRAPS!

exps31525_LT950601C11_04_3c_WEBI googled a bunch of recipes, but knowing how I work (I take after my mum – thanks mum!) – I am just going to wing it and use what I have already in the fridge and cupboards at home. I promise to post a pic of the final product!

Things I have in my fridge:

  1. Lettuce (duh, this is critical in making lettuce wraps!)
  2. Chicken (gonna grill this with some spices and some soya sauce!)
  3. Mushrooms (i have brown and white mushies – yum! mushrooms in anything works for me)
  4. Onions
  5. Peppers
  6. Carrots (will julienne them, teeny tiny slivers)
  7. Mange Tout
  8. Baby Corn
  9. Garlic
  10. Sesame Seeds
  11. Ginger

and then knowing Rob, he will layer this with a bunch of hot sauces we have in the fridge – the man is addicted to sauce!
